I guess many of you have wondered how online slot machines work, and im here to make it clear for you! So...Seat tight and be prepared to be impressed by it's mechanics.

What are slots?

A slot machine is a gambling game with spinning reels. These reels feature random symbols that land after you bet and spin the reels. When these symbols line up, you win a prize based on the symbol that lands on that "payline".

Slot games have been around since the late 19th century, but they've only grown in popularity since then. They were originally mechanical devices that relied on springs and gears to spin the reels. Modern slot machines use a computer program called a random number generator(RNG) to determine which symbols land where.

What's a RNG?

RNG generates thousands of random numbers every second out of electromagnetic noise. So on one hand, you will change the outcome of the next round if you press the start button one second later. However, on the other hand, you have no chance to predict whether the outcome will be better for you or not. So the fair randomness remains.

It’s like an old television without signal, it has a lot of black and white dots, being the black pixel equal to 0 and the white pixel equal to 1. By taking a small picture of a random part of that Tv, you are left with multiple white and black points which are converted into 1s and 0s that are then written into a file, only then you have generated a random number. Meaning that the same game with the same random number must always give the same outcome.

How does a slot work?

First things first, the RNG will generate a random number that is then processed by the game's mathematical module so it can calculate where the reels should stop. Once all of that is proceced, it's calculated the outcome of the spin and showned to the player who initiated the spin.
