Crystal Palace Removes W88 betting logo from shirts

English premier league team Crystal Palace has replaced online gambling brand W88 with a new sponsor, Cinch, an online car retailer.

The new development comes after the UK government placed restrictions on gambling brands as shirt sponsors, a move that will affect several Premier League clubs.

However, as the discussions of a betting sponsorship ban continues and the English football season ends, Crystal Palace has become the first club from the English first league to break its ties with its gambling brand sponsor.

Under the terms W88 had with Crystal Palace, the betting firm would sponsor the team by paying around £6.5 million per season while promoting its brand via its home stadium, signage, and social media pages.

However, with the latest development, Cinch has now become the new official training wear partner of Crystal Palace, thereby giving it access to promote its brand via the club's academy teams, Selhurst Park Stadium, and digital channels. The multi-year contract will also see its men's and women's teams wear Cinch's logo on their shirts.
