Hacksaw Gaming's latest release Rotten see's the graphics team take this slot back into the realms of darkness and with freaky zombies as the premium symbols on the reels you can see why they called it Rotten. The game is set on a 6x5 grid and has 35 pay lines, there are certainly a few more funky lines on this game compared to other Hacksaw games.

                                                    

As we are coming to expect there are two bonuses on this level and a couple of ways you can spin enhanced spins in the base game. Rotten also see's Hacksaw put a trademark onto something they are calling "switch spins" I am pretty sure we have seen this mechanic on other slots but I have noticed lately that more and more providers are putting trademarks on different slot features, this maybe off the back of the court case between PNG and Novomatic over the Book games but anyway, the first and easier to land bonus is the Mad Scientist bonus. You get 10 spins and have a greater chance of landing the "Switch" scatter than in the base. The Switch scatter swaps the selected symbols for either the top symbol or wilds! You can land the switch scatter in the base game too and you can get up to 3 respins.

          

The other ways you can play this game are the 3x stake increase your chance of a bonus spin and the guaranteed switch scatter spin that gives you a switch spin all the time, this is volatile though and costs 20x stake. You can also buy the other two bonuses for 110x and 250x. The total takeover bonus can also be triggered during the Mad scientist spins but in all honesty both bonuses are very similar!

                                                    

You can also re-trigger the Total take over spins and if you land 3 scatters you get an extra 4 spins. In this bonus you have an increased chance to land the switch scatter and each time it lands and turns a symbol into a switch symbol it stays for the rest of the spins. It is possible to turn all of the symbols into switch symbols which will give you a full screen every time and this is how you will get the max win of 10,000x

                     

As the bonus spins the red x's tell you where a switch symbol is going to land and then when it lands it turns to either the top clown zombie or a wild symbol, the wins can really rack up fast once you have turned a few symbols to switch symbols.

                                             

Overall this is a good slot, it feels very much like a hacksaw game and has pretty good potential. There is not much variation in the bonuses though if you compare this to some other Hacksaw games. The graphics are good and the game play is smooth, typical easy to navigate Hacksaw overlay and the different betting options tailor to all types of players. Nice game might have done better to release it nearer Halloween than Christmas though 🙂
