Now this post digs into the realms of superstition, luck and jinxing. Those of you that are not familiar with what a jinx is, it is something a bit like a curse and comes out of the realms of superstition. Quantifying luck is not easy and gamblers and scientists a like have been trying to work out what luck is, in order to try and be more lucky themselves. I have been gambling for over 30 years and I have tried to figure this out myself but it is not easy. I have noticed patterns in my own luck and feel that sometimes you have more luck than other times.

So one of my theories is that luck has something to do with astrology, where the stars and the moon are at a specific time. This then relates to how lucky you are at any point during the year. I am sure that those of you that gamble regularly will have noticed these patterns yourself. It seems that at certain times you can't loose on anything and then the other end of the spectrum is you can't win on anything you bet on. So being able to quantify luck and know how to be more lucky would be very advantageous to a gambler.

The jinx effect is something that seems to happen and that we have all probably noticed at some point or another but yet we are not able to quantify this unknown strange occurrence. There have been many cases over the years of teams or games being jinxed and one of the best documented is the Sports Illustrated curse or jinx.

Sports Illustrated is one of Americas longest running sports journals, they have been covering sporting events mainly from the USA for a long time now but are you aware about the sports illustrated curse?

In 2002 Sports Illustrated conducted a study into the so called curse of jinx effect of the magazine and found pretty substantial evidence that putting a team, player or fighter on the front cover had a detrimental effect and they ended up losing their next match. These included teams on massive winning streaks, fighters on unbeaten runs, pitchers and basketball stars. And as soon as their faces appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated then the next match they lost! The study carried out into this so called curse found that out of the 2456 covers a total of 913 lost their winning streak the next time they went out to compete. With these kind of statistics it really does feel like there is some sort of strange force at work here.

So we have evidence in the form of stats from some very respectful sources and we all probably have some experience of it ourselves but yet we still can not quantify what the Jinx effect or luck even is. This baffles me and I guess I am a little bit superstitious but there really are forces out there at work that we don't understand and they can be the deciding factor in whether we win or lose- Crazy.

Very good article, but I don't usually believe in good or bad luck, I think I am in the right time and place when something good happens by making a good decision or I place a winning bet, I usually think that in a parallel universe another version of me lost money hahahahaha (multiverse).

Now luck has many definitions, you can think that we make our luck when we only have positive thoughts (law of attraction), then we will do well, but ultimately I think the term was created just to justify good or bad decisions. Hahaha

Pdta. What happened to the millionaire poll? xD

Is the wheel spinning contest for the posts still active?

Merry christmas to all.

This is such a nice topic to discuss and debate about but imo, I don’t believe in superstitions. I like to bet randomly and using probabilities to make my next move. Ig thats my way of quantifying luck.

This to me is another very interesting topic no matter the venue discussing it.

I can chat/talk about this subject perhaps all day.

For now I will just type...

No one deity (god(s)/goddess), human, immortal, alien, living thing/creature, A.I., any life form whether known about, or unknown at the moment will know it all, it's not meant for one sole life form/A.I. to know everything about every infinite subject.

I won't elaborate more, trust me... even in the future nothing will ever know it all (period). The sooner we all cope with this reality being factual of what I commented about above the more at peace your mind will be. Trying to make sense of the world is all human history, and still we keep trying to push the boundaries in every professional field, which I love.

Dive into the world of quantum physics, string theory, time, space, dimensions, mathematics at the highest level, amongst other crucial subjects to expand your horizon of knowledge.

P.S. @Garf79 Let me know if you ever solve it, or at least getting closer to the truth. Great work again, Sir. 👍
