What is Spread Betting?

There are many ways that you can bet on sports and spread betting is becoming a common strategy. Spread betting is where profits or losses of a single bet are based on how much  of the 'spread the betting platform offers, combined with your prediction for the win. By 'buying' or 'selling' the spread, how much you make is determined by how accurate your prediction is. It is different from fixed odds betting,  you can lose a lot of bets, instead of a fixed amount.

Spread betting can be the much smarter bet compared to fixed odd betting but it does have its downfalls. Fixed-odds betting pays on the winner and also the places (on each-way bets) but spread betting pays out more for finishing 2nd than for finishing 3rd and obviously if it comes in first that is best. This means if you think your bet or pick might not win but might do good enough  to finish in the places then spread betting is likely to reward you better.

How Put a Spread Bet on:

Firstly it is very important you understand what you are doing the risk is the same as betting on fixed odds but with spread betting you can lose multiple stakes in one bet, always check the bet total before you place the bet on and see exactly how much will be coming out of your account!

The spread the betting platform gives you is the prediction of what will happen in a particular betting market or a sporting event, when the platform offers you a spread bet they also will have to provide a 'buying' and 'selling' price. 

Placing your bet you have to study the market and chose your selections, you can chose multiple selections and this is where the risk increases because you have to put multiple stakes on your selections. The easiest way to start spread betting is buy buying spreads, when it comes to selling your spread bets it starts to get a little bit more complicated. In truth I don't understand Spread Betting fully myself and would love to hear some forum views on your experience of this type of bet and if you guys have any tips for either buying or selling and how much of a bank roll you need to start spread betting successfully.
