Is Gambling A Man Thing?

Talking about a broad topic here and I will try not to say anything that offends anyone as that is the last thing I want to do. I want to talk about sexism or lack of equality in gambling, I mean casinos and book makers should not care about whether they take money from a man or woman right? Money is Money! So do we think that there is enough female representation in the gambling world and are games aimed more at men?

I am only really going off of what I have experienced and I will try and find some statistics to put in here but from what I have seen it seems to be mostly men that gamble. Or should I say the vast majority is male, of course there are plenty of female players but how the percentages weigh up?

I found plenty of info on why and how many women gamble on the UKGC website, so all the stats and figures should be pretty accurate. I found that 0.2% of women are problem gamblers and for men this is 0.6% so men seem to be 3 times more likely to develop problem gambling and from the figures that I have seen this ration is carried on to how many people have a regular gamble, either playing the lottery, casinos or online betting.

The games preferred by women tend to be slightly different to men, women prefer to play games like Bingo, Lottery, Scratch Cards and slot machines. Where as the men tend to lean more towards Sports Betting, Card Games and Slots.

The above quote is from the UKGC website and it is a load of rubbish really, it states the reasons why women gamble and the reasons given are basically the same as why men gamble, there is no mention of dopamine and adrenaline in the UKGC article and I think this needs to be addressed and understood a little bit more, I have posted a bit on this topic in the past and it frustrates me that regulators do not seem to admit that gambling may just be a trigger to get us addicted to chemicals produced by our own body whether we are male or female.

Some food for thought here and I would love to know your opinions of whether you think women are fairly represented by the gambling industry and if you think anything should change.

i feel that is true we all have the same feeling weather it be good or bad or winning or losing , tilting or chasing dont matter if your male or female . i think the males stats are up due to sports, i feel its lop-sided in that field but is changing dramatically. if you did this statistic in another year or 2 i believe the % would be a lot closer. Most people opened up to online gambling during the pandemic and a lot of them prefer it to land based , BUT yes if they put more effort into support more socializing in some of these games like live videos of the players playing so u can chat while u play or make more game appealing to females as they seem to make little of. Anyways just my thoughts ...touchy subject  lol 😇

It is true that usually in casinos you see more men than women, because before the pandemic I visited casinos physically and the women I found were in slot and roulette, not at all in cards or very few, just like in poker.

This is the first time I'm hearing of this. I don't think representation matters because gambling is bad either way, we're all just addicts and females getting represented more won't change anything.

Both genders have their differences and activities they enjoy, like how you see more women in a mall and more men at a skate park.

Nothing should change. I think it's fine as it is.

Yes, nowadays people have started to play casinos and bet on sports a lot.

seems like the pandemic made online gambling and sports gambling almost bigger then land bases casinos, id like to see the stats of the amount of people going to land based casinos compared to after the pandemic id say alot less go to land casino and more play online at home
