Shiba Inu was created in August 2020 by an anonymous person or group known as "Ryoshi". Shiba is a decentralized cryptocurrency named after a Japanese breed of dog, the same breed that is depicted in Dogecoin's symbol.

Shiba Inu was one of the best meme coins of 2021, leveraging the success that Dogecoin experienced. As you might imagine, Shiba Inu garnered a massive following on social media, which it retains to this day. This is evidenced by the r/SHIBArmy subreddit, which boasts over 470,000 members.

Within this subreddit, users discuss Shiba Inu in a light-hearted and humorous manner. However, many threads focus on the coin’s fundamentals and use cases, which are the keys to its long-term success. One of the most significant developments in Shiba Inu recently has been the launch of ‘ShibaSwap’, a decentralized exchange which offers token swapping, staking mechanisms, and even a dedicated NFT marketplace.
