Alex de Minaur (AUS) was struggling physically in the second half of the match, and Cristian Garin made the most of the circumstances to pull off a superb five-set comeback win in the round of 16, 2-6 5-7 7-6 6-4 7-6. His recent Wimbledon campaign in 2021 ended in the round of 16 at the hands of the eventual champion Novak Djokovic.

Nick Kyrgios battles through shoulder pain in his hard-fought five-set win over the inexperienced Brandon Nakashima in the round of 16. He was grabbing and rubbing his right shoulder and struggled in the fourth set but made a quick recovery to dominate the decider, 4-6 6-4 7-6 3-6 6-2.

A lot depends on Nick Kyrgios' fitness condition as a fully-fit Aussie should beat Cristian Garin comfortably on grass.

Ajla Tomljanovic proved her 2021 quarterfinal run at the All England Club was not a one-off oddity. She rode a two-hour and 34-minute rollercoaster against Alize Cornet and defeated the physically struggling Frenchwoman, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, in a match with a combined 16 breaks of serves.

Elena Rybakina accelerated from a break down in the first set and avoided facing any breakpoints in the second to defeat former world no. 14 Petra Martic, 7-5, 6-3. It puts her one round ahead of her 2021 Wimbledon debut, when she lost to Aryna Sabalenka in the round-of-16 stage in three sets.

Elena Rybakina leads 1-0. The pair, both competing for an adopted homeland, met in the first round of the 2021 Madrid Open. Ajla Tomljanovic was under a rough patch at that time and playing as a 78th-ranked qualifier, and unsurprisingly lost 6-4, 6-0 in 62 minutes on the clay.

Simona Halep played her first match on the Center Court since lifting the Venus Rosewater Dish in 2019. She broke fourth seed Paula Badosa five times in 59 minutes while fending off a lone breakpoint and hitting 17 winners to nine unforced errors, easing into the last-eight stage, 6-1, 6-2.

Amanda Anisimova booked a place in her second Grand Slam quarterfinal after ending the dream run of Harmony Tan, 6-2, 6-3. Earlier she posted back-to-back comeback wins over Lauren Davis and 11th seed Coco Gauff, with the latter being her first time stepping foot on the Center Court.

Simona Halep leads 2-1. She was beaten 6-2, 6-4 in the 2019 Roland-Garros quarterfinals where she was the defending champion. The Romanian since retaliated and dropped four games across their clashes in Paris in 2020 (6-0, 6-1) and Bad Homburg last month (6-2, 6-1).

The game between this two gentleman's will take place in the UK at 15:00(CET) 

Taylor Fritz is through to the quarterfinal of a slam for the first time in his career, and he has done that without dropping a set. That said, his path to this stage has been quite comfortable, and he is yet to face a proper test at Wimbledon in this fortnight.

After a slow and shaky start to the campaign, Rafael Nadal seems to have shifted gears in the last two rounds. He dropped only seven games against the 2019 ATP Antalya (G) champion Lorenzo Sonego in the third round and dominated the 2021 US Open quarterfinalist Botic Van De Zandschulp for 90% of their round of 16 encounter.

Tied at 1-1 (both in championship matches and both concluded in straight sets). Taylor Fritz can beat the current version of Rafael Nadal on grass if he brings his best game to the court, but he hasn't done that consistently in recent weeks. His record on grass this year may look good on paper, but his performance since the start of the clay swing hasn't been good, and he even lost consecutive matches on grass to Tim Van Rijthoven and Jack Draper last month.
