Carlos Sainz on Pole Position!

Carlos Sainz takes first pole position of his career! The Spanish driver was fastest in Q3 and will start from the top position at the Silverstone Grand Prix. Verstappen followed behind Sainz, with Charles Leclerc completing the podium in 3rd place.

Sainz set his best lap at the final attempt of the third qualifying session, running 1.40.983 minutes, beating the Dutch Max Verstappen (Red Bull), who was 2nd, by 0.072 seconds. Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) was 3rd, 0.315 seconds behind his teammate.

The session was marked by rain, which forced the drivers to fit intermediate tires.

In Q3, the track started to dry out and the times started to improve, with Verstappen, the defending champion, being the fastest after the first few attempts.

However, in the final seconds, Carlos Sainz beat the Red Bull driver, who was behind the Spaniard and with a chance to improve his time.

However, a yellow flag situation in the second of three sectors on the British circuit at Silverstone prevented Verstappen from beating Sainz, who was surprised by the 1st place.
