Cameron Norrie opened his account on grass this year with a routine straight-set win over the 2022 ATP 's-Hertogenbosch quarterfinalist Brandon Nakashima in the second round (R1 bye) of ATP Eastbourne this week, 6-4 6-2. The 26-year-old is a win away from registering his best result in ATP Eastbourne in five appearances. He reached the quarterfinal of this tournament once back in 2018 and failed cheaply against Lucas Lacko in straight sets.

After a couple of disappointing outings in Stuttgart and Halle, Maxime Cressy has finally converted good performance into results in Eastbourne this week. He dropped only four games against Reilly Opelka in the first round and defeated the former Brit #1 Dan Evans in straight sets in the second.

Cameron Norrie deservedly starts as the favorite, but this won't be an easy outing for him as Maxime Cressy has got the serve and net game to be a dangerous player in these conditions.

Jannik Sinner was returning from the injury break and was playing his first match on grass in nearly a year, and Tommy Paul made good use of the circumstances to deliver a three-set win over the Italian #2 in the second round of ATP Eastbourne, 6-3 3-6 6-3.

Alex de Minaur defeated Lorenzo Sonego in a rematch of last year's title-decider to move into the quarterfinal of this edition. The Aussie lifted his fifth ATP title and the first outside of hard courts here in Eastbourne 12 months ago, dropping only one set in the whole week.

Alex de Minaur leads 2-0 (both in 2022). There isn't much between these two players at the moment, but Alex de Minaur's extra motivation to defend the title gives him a slight edge in this evenly-poised quarterfinal contest.
