Beatriz Haddad Maia finished her second round against Magdalena Frech, 6-1, 5-7, 7-6, on Friday after the match was suspended due to darkness while she was down a break in the third. She came back in a few hours and rallied from 0-3 in the first set to beat third seed Camila Giorgi, 6-3, 6-2.

Simona Halep was fortunate enough to move past wildcard Katie Boulter with a rather respectable 6-4, 6-1 scoreline in the quarterfinal, improving on her only previous campaign in Birmingham (2015). She put in just 33% of her first serves in the first set and won 33% whenever that happened.

Simona Halep leads 2-0. She prevailed in the Court One of Wimbledon in 2017 and Rod Laver Arena of Melbourne this year, each time in straight sets. It would be a humongous task for Beatriz Haddad Maia to cross into her third WTA final at the expense of a Wimbledon champion.

Zhang Shuai is back in the semifinal of Birmingham after eight long years. In a rematch of this year's Lyon final, she took on Dayana Yastremska on Friday and triumphed 7-5, 6-4 for a repeat. There was nothing to separate them in either sets as the eighth seed ran away from 4-4 position in both.

Sorana Cirstea wasted three set points on her own serve in the first set but fired back from a set and a break down to defeat qualifier and 2013 finalist Donna Vekic, 5-7, 6-3, 6-4, in two and a half hours. She has created a new milestone at the age of 32 and entered her first grass semifinal.

Sorana Cirstea leads 2-1 but was destroyed, 6-1, 6-1, in 53 minutes when they met in the second round of Miami earlier this year. It's unlikely to be such a quick affair as the Romanian aims to become the first player from her country to join a Birmingham championship match.

The game between this two gentlemans will take place at Centre Court, London at 13:30(CET)

Matteo Berrettini proved to be too good for the ATP London main-draw debutant Botic Van De Zandschulp in the semifinal. He won 88% of his first-serve points and created a whopping 15 breakpoint chances on the Dutchman's serve, 6-4 6-3.

Filip Krajinovic produced his best performance of the week to upset the two-time former ATP London champion Marin Cilic in straight sets in the semifinal, 6-3 6-3. He has played ten sets in four matches so far in his campaign, and all ten sets concluded at either 6-3 or 6-4.

Matteo Berrettini leads 2-0. The Italian won the pair's previous two meetings on clay, and playing on grass improves his chances significantly. Considering their form and ability on grass, a healthy Matteo Berrettini should have no problems beating Filip Krajinovic in these conditions.
