It certainly seems that Play'n'Go (PNG) are tweaking their new slots slightly. Most of their new releases have a different feel and the graphics are slightly sharper, the overlay has changed a bit too. Gates of Troy is a new slot from PNG that is available to spin now!

The slot is set in the ancient times and set around the myth of the Trojan horse and Troy, the base game is very average but the graphics are good and the game sounds are pretty epic.

Gates of Troy is a 5 reel, 4 row slot with 30 pay lines. The game has a medium hit rate and the volatility is medium/low, Gates of Troy has a variable RTP from 96.2% to an abysmal 84.2% so check what version you are playing, if it is down towards the 84% then do not even bother putting a spin through it!

The free spins are triggered by landing 3 or more Trojan horse scatters any where on the reels, when they land you are awarded 10 free spins and the Trojan horse is dragged along the top of the reels signaling how many spins you have left.

   

During the spins you have to collect as many wilds as possible and when the horse reaches the gates of Troy you wilds are put back on the screen in the position they were collected from. Nothing new we have seen this bonus from many providers many times before.

Some of the wilds have 2x multipliers and on the last spin is where you hope to hit that big win! The max win on Gates of Troy is only 3000x and you have a 1 in a hundred million chance of hitting that. During the base the only feature is a guaranteed scatter spin, this will give you 1 or 2 scatters on the reels but you will still have to land another scatter to trigger the bonus.

Overall really nothing special at all, it is a well made slot and if a new player found it I could see the appeal but for experienced players there is nothing to hold your attention for very long. The variable RTP range is disgusting and I think PNG need to address this and make games with a flat RTP. Players should be aware that some casinos will set the RTP low and get in the habit of checking. Gates of Troy- Mediocre at best.
