Big Wild Buffalo from Belatra Games was released earlier this year in July, following on with the popular theme of the iconic North  American Wild Buffalo, this slot has 25 win lines and some beautifully designed reel graphics. The buffalo is the top symbol and the rest of the premium symbols are other wild life you may have found roaming all over North America a few hundred years ago.

                                                  

All the symbols appear stacked on the reels and Big Wild Buffalo pays from left to right. This slot has 5 reels and 4 rows, the line hits may not look particularly high, top symbol paying just 10x but when you start to land multiplying wilds and hit multiple lines the wins sure start adding up. If a Big Wild Buffalo lands on any part of a reel it nudges down and makes the whole reel wild and these wilds often have multipliers on them 2-5x. You can land multiple Big Buffalo Wilds in any one spin and the multipliers are added together and then the win is multiplied.

                                         

Big Wild Buffalo has two types of bonus round the first is a fun hold and spins bonus that is triggered by landing six or more full moon symbols. During this bonus round you also have a chance to to hit one of the massive fixed jackpots. The jackpots are Mini 20x, Minor 100x, Major 500x and Grand 5000x. In order to get one of these jackpots you have to fill rows of the grid up in the hold and spins bonus round. When you land six Hold n Spin moon symbols on the reels the sun goes down and the moon comes out and the tundra turns to night time. You have the standard 3 lives, miss 3 times and it is game over. There are some fun power ups that enhance this bonus, land these for big wins!

          

• Fill one horizontal row like in the graphic above right and you trigger the Mini Jackpot (20x)
• Fill two horizontal rows and you get the Minor Jackpot (100x)
• Fill three horizontal rows and you get the Major Jackpot (500x)
• Fill the whole screen and you the Grand Jackpot (5000x)

The second bonus on Big Wild Buffalo is the free spin round and my personal favorite, to trigger the free spins you need to land 3 scatters on reels 1, 3 and 5. You are then awarded 8 free spins, you can re-trigger the spins in the bonus. 2 Scatters give you 1 extra spins and 3 scatters give you 3 extra spins. When the spins start at random moments Big Wild Buffaloes are metamorphosised on to the reels and for each ghostly Buffalo figure that appears your global free spin multiplier increases. You can still land the nudging Wild Buffaloes with multipliers in this bonus and then all of the multipliers are added together making for some truly massive wins!

                    

The game graphics and sounds are all on point, the game music is in fitting with the North American wilderness and is not intrusive at all and adds a lot to the overall game play. The reel graphics during the bonus really step up a notch and the bonus intro scene and the final free spin win screen is stunning.

                 

You really want to build the multiplier up as high as possible, as soon as possible in order to get the really big hits. The spins can be over fairly quickly if you don't get re-triggers. You can get up to a maximum of 100 free spins on Big Wild Buffalo and that is a lot of re-triggers. The Max win is 5000x on this slot and it is a high volatility game with a medium low hit rate. There is no gamble feature on this Belatra release and no Wheel of Fortune progressive Jackpot game. However you do have the fixed jackpots which seem like they are pretty easy to hit, well the Mini Jackpot anyway, I think the others may take a bit of time and luck.

Big Wild Buffalo is a real step in the right direction for Belatra, the game features stunning graphics and great game play. The mechanics of the slot are really good and both bonuses are fun and entertaining. The base game has really good potential and regular 20,30 and 40x hits help keep the balance stable for grinding the bonuses in. Both bonus round have great potential also, the hold n spin bonus seems to drop in fairly often and the free spins, well if you build the global multiplier up above 10x and the land a couple of nudging Big Wild Buffaloes with multipliers on then you are getting paid over 1000x. Overall this is an excellent game that will appeal to both new players and seasoned pro's alike, Belatra have really raised their game with this release and I think players will get a lot of enjoyment from this slot!
