I have written quite a few slots reviews over the last months and something I almost always mention is Hit Rate. Then I was made aware that not every body on the forum knows what Hit Rate means when talking about slots. I am sure it has other meanings in other areas like sports and computer games but when I use it in reviews it  specifically relates to how frequent a slot gives you wins in the base game!

The size of the win does not matter when it comes to hit rate and some wins are only 1 tenth of your stake. But size does not matter when it comes to hit rate! It is simply how often you get at least some form of RTP in the base game. So if I say a game has a low hit rate in a review like Knights Life by Merkur for example, this means you would expect to get a win in the base game around 20% or less of the time.

When describing a slots hit rate I will either give the exact percentage if the provider has this information or I will give it a ranking of high, medium or low hit rate. Knights Life is a 5 line game and you should expect a much lower hit rate from slots with less lines. Slots with less lines generally have higher line wins but not always.

So when describing a slot as having a high hit rate, it would mean that the slot will give you wins 40% or more. Some slots have more than 50% hit rate but getting big wins from these games can be tricky as the RTP is spread out over each spin making for a less volatile slot. Some good examples of high hit rate slots are Bonanza Megaways, BTG, Blood Suckers, Netent and Jack'n'the Beanstalk, Netent also.

I hope this post is of some use to you guys when reading future reviews, I am sure most of you know what I mean when I say "Hit Rate" but maybe some of you didn't.
