Skill Based Slots Games.

There is no doubt in my mind that the next evolution in online slots will be skill based. The provider that manages this breakthrough will have something unique that very few other providers have tried. The trouble is with skill based games is that players can cheat! It is not that difficult if you know what you are doing to create a program that can play the skill based game to the max potential and this nullifies any actual skill involved. So how can providers create a game that is truly skill based and still stays within the RTP parameters?

One would would be to have players playing against each other and the casinos and providers take a rake from the amount bet, just like in online poker. In online poker the platform does not have any part of playing the game apart from dealing the cards and hosting the players and they make money from "raking" a small amount of money from each pot that is played. It is possible that providers could make multiplayer slots where players buy in for a set amount of money and the winner takes the prizes but this does not take away the possibility of cheating and we have seen examples of this with online computer games matches in the past.

Some providers have already had a go at making skill based games and they have had moderate success, Scientific gaming released a slot a while ago that I wrote a review on called Space Invaders and this game is actually skill based. In Space Invaders you play the old Atari game to shoot aliens and win prizes.

                

Arkanoid by Next Gaming is another skill based slot that is available to play in land based arcades and casinos but I am yet to see this game online, probably for the reasons I mentioned above about cheating with program add-ons.

In fact there are quite a few skill based games but not very many online and they are not a new thing, I remember a game that was released in 1993 called  The Crystal Maze, it had a £5 jackpot and was skill based. I knew people that would travel around the country finding this game and emptying the machine. They made a good living by playing this games because their skill level was so high.

                              

I would watch people that would play the games on the machine and make it to the Crystal Dome and win the Jackpot every time until the machine was empty and this highlights a point of probably why there are not very many skill based games and that is because humans can beat the machines with a lot of practice and if they can't beat it they cheat!
