Skywind have been on the up in recent years releasing a few great slots like 8 Tigers Gold and Big Top Bonanza both Megaways games, they also have their first live wheel game Jokers Wheel coming out soon. A fairly new release from Skywind Super Lion is a clone of Netents most famous slot StarBurst, now there have been a few attempts to clone Starburst by many other providers but in my opinion Super Lion is the best of the rest.

                      

Super Lion is a 5 reel, 3 row, 10 winline slot with the pays both ways mechanic. If you land a Lion wild it expands and you get a respin. You can land Lion wilds on reels 2,3 and 4 exactly the same as Starburst.

                               

The sounds and graphics are all very smooth and shiny, the reel symbols resemble those on Starburst and even the Lion wilds mane is colored like the expanding star on Starburst. Super Lion is basically Skywinds version of Starburst in almost every way.

                            

The theoretical Max win is lower than that of Starburst at 900x, Netents Starburst is 1500x but what Skywind have done very cleverly in my opinion is not to mess with Netents winning formula and the base game is almost duplicated, where Skywind have been very smart is to add a progressive jackpot to Super Lion, possibly the only thing that could improve on the classic Starburst original. You can trigger the progressive jackpot by lining up the highlighted symbols on a win line.

                                             

The progressive jackpot only accounts for 0.4% of the games RTP so you will not miss that, the overall RTP is 96.5%, Super Lion is a low volatility slot with a medium hit rate. Although this game is clearly nothing new it is a very well made slot and fits nicely into Skywinds catalog. The overlay is very good, clear, simple and easy to use. The addition of the progressive jackpot is a very shrewd move and it gives this version of Starburst something that none of the other clones have as far as I am aware. This could make new players finding this game rank it above the Netent original maybe, either way Super Lion is a pretty solid all round spinner!
