Knowing when to stop gambling doesn't just mean taking your money and running from the casino. It can mean knowing when to stop playing a specific game that you are playing at the time, maybe Roulette, Black Jack or Slots. If you are having a big gambling session often you will switch games but getting stuck on a game can be costly!

If you push a game to hard then it is most likely the game will take your money. Often when I have played a game and made a nice profit I stay too long and end up returning any winnings and loosing my entire balance. In this situation you get to a point  (I am sure most of you realize it) where you have a choice, should I stay or should I go?

Making the right choice at this time is key to setting up a good feeling and a winning mentality. Of course the game maybe be hot and you could carry on winning but most likely the game will start to take the money back and this comes from experience, I have lost like this many times and seen others do exactly the same thing. But it is hard to stop, gamblers have a certain mentality-most of them do not like loose and try and beat the game no matter how costly-just like myself.

It is important to realize how much psychology is involved creating a winning or loosing gambling environment, the smallest things can have a mental effect on you when gambling and of course the providers use psychology to influence or  try to influence your betting behavior. Casino's and game providers want you to loose and spend more, they are a business and want to make money. Often the games will have near misses or teases with scatters on slots- these are programmed to make you think the game is going to pay! Keeping a clear head and ignoring these signs is key to building a good balance and maintaining it to have a good cash out. Here at Alpha Gamblers we want you to win! We want players to bet and gamble responsibly, offering advice is part of our job.

Recognizing and acting upon a "psychological tilt" when it starts to set in is key to maintaining a winning streak, it is impossible to keep winning and winning but there are things you can do to avoid tilting. Below are a few steps that you can do when you feel that you are tilting, following them can be hard and will go against what your brain is telling you to do-but when tilt sets in ask your self are you in control of your brain at that moment in time?

  • When you are stuck on a game and tilt sets in ask yourself- Are there any other games that I haven't played for a while and would like to play? (There are so many new games out there now, if the one you are playing has payed-look for another one that might pay even more!!!)
  • Are you tired and it would be better to go to bed?
  • Is the game baiting me into spending more and more? (the answer to this will be yes!)
  • Ask yourself are you having fun? (If you are not change game)
  • If tilt is setting in talk to people, either friends, family or a team mate someone online maybe. Sometimes talking about things can help and you to change a loosing streak into a winning strategy.
  • Ask yourself what is the bigger picture, the game you are playing now or the overall plan. Sometimes just being able to play is more profitable than winning big.
  • If you know you are tilting then lower the stake or stop completely, wait for that winning feeling to return and come back firing when the time is right again.
  • If you are tilting tell yourself that the casino and providers want you to do this! This may help you realize and stop or change tactic avoiding the tilt.
  • Set bottom lines and limits-If you are winning on a game and have made profit it is fine to see if the game will pay more but set limits! Either 2 or 3 more bonus buys, maybe 50 spins or a set amount of money. If the game keeps playing fine but still set limits. It is painful to watch streamers tilt away their winnings just as much as it is to do it yourself! The reason for this is because you can relate to it-we have all done it before.
  • Ask yourself am I being responsible and setting a good example for others?

Truth be told it is not easy avoiding tilt when it sets in, it can be a horrible feeling that sometimes can last for a long time. This can induce a losing streak that can last for weeks. So avoiding it happening in the first place is the best way to becoming a winning casino player and having consistent cash outs-of course you will not win all the time but avoiding tilting can help massively. Truly understanding and recognizing what happens when you start to tilt can help too.

I am sure there is a lot more I could say on such a complex subject and if you have any input or would like to tell me about any stories you have of getting tilted or avoiding it I would love to hear them. We want everyone here to win and have fun, so building up a collective of thoughts on this subject is very important to helping ourselves and others! I wish you all lots of luck 🙂

Learning when to stop is crucial, i´ve learned this the hard way and from those sad days to now im a much happier person because i know when to stop and i dont feel guilt when i lose some cash. It´s important to set a limit when your betting, so u don´t lose it all. Don´t chase losses if u know you will regret it if you end up with 0 balance. Safe bets y´all

Thanks for the tips brother! Indeed, as you say, everything is psychological, at what exact moment to retire is all part of it!

Many times it has happened to me that I stay 5 minutes more and end up losing all my money 😞

Quite detailed G.Yeah man I always set targets eg, my take profit and how much I'm willing to lose.Even thou that feeling which gambling gives tries to take over(the next hit is my winning hit )  tries to take over.i try remain disciplined as I've learn in the past that lacking self discipline can make you alot of money bit also have you lose that money in the blink of an eye(especially when you chasing losse).
